Looking for a role where no two days are the same? Adventure Tours UK is an ambitious B Corp-certified tour operator, showcasing the very best of the UK to travellers from around the world. We specialise in creating unforgettable active and sustainable travel experiences, priding ourselves on delivering exceptional guest service, authentic experiences and responsible tourism.
We’re now looking for a Tailor-made Tour Specialist to join our team. This is not a traditional sales role. It’s not a traditional operations role either. This is a unique hybrid position for someone who loves both the commercial challenge of winning business and the satisfaction of delivering exceptional trips once they are booked.
About the Role
You will be the dedicated point of contact for our tailor-made guests, managing their journey from initial enquiry right through to their return home. During our peak booking period, you will focus on converting enquiries into booked trips, building relationships with guests, creating bespoke itineraries and producing compelling, commercially-sound proposals. During our busy travel season, you will switch gears into operations mode; coordinating logistics, managing supplier partners, supporting guests on tour and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
If you enjoy variety, ownership and making things happen, this is the role for you.
You will LOVE this role if…
- You have a commercial mindset: You enjoy building relationships, understanding guest needs, creating tailored solutions and closing sales.
- You love organisation and detail: You get genuine satisfaction from knowing everything is in the right place, every booking is accurate and every tour is flawlessly delivered.
- You enjoy variety: One day you might be designing itineraries and costing proposals. The next you could be confirming logistics, building guest itineraries, or solving a last-minute operational challenge.
- You take ownership: You don’t wait to be asked. You spot issues, solve problems and take responsibility for outcomes.
- You enjoy being part of a small team: We are a close-knit business where everyone makes a significant contribution. You will have real responsibility, real autonomy and real impact.
This probably ISN’T the right role if…
- You are looking for a narrowly defined role with little variation.
- You prefer to focus solely on sales or solely on operations.
- You dislike administration and attention to detail.
- You prefer highly structured corporate environments with multiple management layers.
- You are uncomfortable speaking directly with guests or supplier partners.
- You prefer to be given detailed instructions for every task rather than taking ownership and finding solutions.
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience within travel sales, tailor-made travel, tour operations or a related travel environment.
- Strong UK destination knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- Commercial awareness and confidence discussing travel proposals and pricing.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence using CRM systems and business software.
- The ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- A positive, solutions-focused attitude.
What you will get:
- You’ll be part of a dynamic small business with big ambitions to be the most respected UK adventure tour operator.
- You‘ll get to work with travellers from around the world and passionate local suppliers across the UK, creating truly unique, immersive experiences that support local communities and are kind to our planet.
- We believe maintaining a work life balance and reducing our impact on the environment are important, so this will be a predominantly remote-working role.
- We are a tight-knit team so regular video calls keep us all working in harmony and we’ll meet in person at least once a month, more frequently at first while you get up to speed with the business.
Part time, permanent position: 25 hours per week
£30,000 – £32,000 per annum (pro rata) (DOA)
Hybrid role, with one monthly in-person meet up
Semi-flexible hours Monday – Friday
22 days annual leave, plus public holidays (pro rata)
An additional day of leave on your birthday
Up to 7 charity days per year volunteering on our own social & environmental initiatives
Health cash plan, giving you money back on everyday healthcare costs
Pension contributions
Candidates must be based in the North Wales / North West England region due to the regular meet ups and charity days which are held in North Wales.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
At Adventure Tours UK, we value everyone as unique individuals and we welcome the variety of experiences they bring to our Company. As such, we have a strict non-discrimination policy. We believe everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, sex, gender identification, sexual orientation, national origin, native language, religion, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by law.
A Final Word
This role would suit someone who enjoys wearing more than one hat, takes pride in delivering excellent work and thrives in a small business environment where everyone contributes to success. If you are equally comfortable talking to guests, negotiating with suppliers, building detailed itineraries and ensuring tours run like clockwork, we would love to hear from you.
At Adventure Tours UK, we set out to create the kind of breaks people like us go wild for. People who get their thrills in the outdoors and want to care for it too. Who want to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with nature. If you’re in search of adventure, you’ll find it with us.
