Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Clinical Specialist (SLP) for our Inpatient Rehabilitation department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Clinical Specialist, you will:
- Provide, or direct and supervise, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care.
- Involve the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care.
- Reexamine the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or change in patient/client status and modify the plan of care accordingly or discontinue speech-language pathology services.
- Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish a diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient, or inpatient rehabilitation settings.
- In consultation with appropriate disciplines, plan for discharge of the patient/client taking into consideration achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and provide for appropriate follow-up or referral.
- Manage schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load, and assist department staff with any issues related to clinical or administrative caseload management.
- Be responsible for individual, assigned team member, and assigned hospital performance improvement, program development, and professional development activities.
- Educate and provide consultation to consumers, healthcare professionals, graduate students, and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy.
- Attend team meetings and effectively communicate patient status, using, if needed, the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case.
- Communicate, coordinate and document all aspects of patient/client management including the results of the initial examination and evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions, reexamination, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated.
- Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers.
- Mentor and support students during their clinical practices, in patient-centered care.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited speech-language pathology program.
- Minimum 8 years of experience (at least 5 years in the setting preferred).
- Clinical instructor or supervisory experience within the past 2 years required.
- Active Maryland SLP License.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Work Schedule:
Candidate should be proficient in treating patients with swallowing and voice diagnoses. Weekday hours 20 to 24 hours a week.
Pay Range: $39.96 - $59.94
