Advent Bioservices is a growing Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) providing GMP manufacturing of ATMPs and related products, process development and ancillary services. We support the development of complex, breakthrough therapies for a globally diverse market. We are at the forefront of revolutionary medicine in which life-threatening diseases are treated using highly personalised therapies.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Manufacturing team. As a senior member of the team, you will combine hands-on manufacturing expertise with scientific leadership, helping to ensure the successful delivery of cellular therapy products for clinical use. You will work closely with Process Development and Quality teams to support manufacturing excellence while mentoring and developing Production Scientists. This role is a site-based role located at our Sawston facility. The role will initially be worked during standard business hours, with some flexibility required. As operational requirements develop there may be opportunities for alternative work patterns or shift arrangements such as staggered hours or shift patterns. Further details will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the manufacture of cellular therapy products within the GMP environment.
  • Support technology transfer, process validation and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver the successful manufacturing outcomes.
  • Analyse data, troubleshoot issues and support investigations.
  • Mentor and develop Production scientists.
  • Support audit readiness and act as a manufacturing subject matter expert.
  • Champion a culture of quality, safety and operational excellence.

You will have the following experience/qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant life sciences discipline, such as Biology, Biomedical Science, Immunology, Hematology, Pharmacology or similar.
  • Significant experience working within a GMP regulated environment.
  • Experience in cell and gene therapy, ATMP manufacturing, or process development.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements and quality systems within a regulated setting.
  • Experience working within cleanroom manufacturing environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a collaborative approach to working across teams.
