An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Human Factors Engineer to support the development of physical user controls within a leading automotive engineering environment. This role focuses on ensuring that human factors, ergonomics and usability principles are embedded throughout the development of physical user interfaces, working closely with engineering, UX and product teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, cascading and ownership of Human Factors requirements for physical user controls
  • Analyse quality and usage data to support requirement development and issue resolution
  • Provide Human Factors input into the development of new physical user interfaces
  • Support the timely completion of Human Factors assessments (e.g. human error, workload)
  • Complete requirement testing, reporting and documentation
  • Support issue resolution through collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Assist with competitor benchmarking and future attribute development
  • Work closely with UX Designers and Product Owners to ensure controls integrate seamlessly into the wider vehicle user experience

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of ergonomics, human factors and user interface design
  • Basic understanding of scientific theories and principles relating to user interface design
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain concepts and issues
  • Ability to analyse data and translate findings into meaningful insight
  • Relevant degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Product Design, or equivalent practical experience

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience in an automotive or engineering environment
  • Familiarity with Agile planning tools such as JIRA or Confluence
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
