Certain Advantage are recruiting on behalf of our established Engineering client for a number of Electrical Engineers on a permanent basis to support important Nuclear projects in the UK. They require Electrical Engineers to provide expertise in the design, analysis and verification of electrical systems used across nuclear facilities. The role supports new build, operational plant upgrades and decommissioning projects.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design electrical systems, including single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable routing, earthing and bonding arrangements, and equipment specifications.
  • Produce design deliverables such as electrical studies, protection and coordination analyses, panel layouts, and installation drawings.
  • Apply nuclear safety principles to ensure system reliability, maintainability, and defence-in-depth.
  • Carry out studies on load flow, fault levels, protection selectivity, and arc flash as needed.
  • Select suitable LV/MV switchgear, transformers, UPS units, motors, drives, and distribution gear for nuclear use.
  • Coordinate with EC&I, controls, mechanical, civil, and safety teams for fully integrated solutions.

Knowledge/Qualifications:

  • Electrical distribution systems—including protection principles and best-practice installation methods.
  • SLDs, cable calculations, equipment specs, and protection settings.
  • BS EN 61508, BS 7671, IEC 60364.
