About the Role
We are seeking Consultant & Senior Consultant Ophthalmologists with expertise in:
- Cataract
- Medical Retina
- Ocular Inflammation & Immunology
- Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus
This role offers the chance to practise in a world-class facility, delivering comprehensive ophthalmic care across outpatient, surgical, and emergency services. You will also have opportunities to shape subspecialty services, strengthen academic research, and contribute to international collaborations, all while mentoring the next generation of eye specialists.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
- Conduct specialist outpatient clinics, elective procedures, and on-call services
- Perform advanced ophthalmic surgery tailored to your subspecialty expertise
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior doctors, fellows, and residents
- Lead and contribute to CME, research collaborations, and international academic projects
- Develop and innovate clinical programmes while maintaining the highest standards of safety, governance, and patient-centred care
✅ Candidate Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Post-graduate qualification in Ophthalmology (e.g. FRCOphth, MMed)
- Completed advanced specialist training and eligible for accreditation with the Ministry of Health
- Strong teaching, research, and leadership skills
- Minimum 7 years post-CCT experience for Senior Consultant applicants
- Track record of academic publications preferred
🎁 Compensation & Benefits
- Associate Consultant: £145,000 – £160,000 per year
- Consultant: £185,000 – £245,000 per year
- Senior Consultant: £260,000+ per year
