Job Overview
This is a full-time role for Building Surveyors located (Norfolk/Suffolk regions) Ipswich, Norwich & Cambridge, with North East Surveyors covering Middlesbrough/Sunderland, UK. Key role will involve liaising with clients and contractors from the start to finish of construction. The Surveyor will be home based and attending sites to inspect construction projects and suitability/quality of construction from foundations through to finals, for a variety of construction types, whilst managing own workload.
Experience with Warranty/Insurance is preferable, but consideration will be given to experienced BCOs looking to switch. BCOs will be fully trained. Consideration will also be given to less experienced surveyors with a minimum of 2 years site experience. Competitive Salary / package dependent on experience.
Qualifications
- Building Surveying and/or warranty surveying inspection experience (minimum 2 years)
- Experience in risk management of construction developments
- Knowledge and experience of construction defects and the effects on commercial and residential properties
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with clients, contractors and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel software
- Relevant qualifications in Building Surveying such as RICS accreditation or degree in Building Surveying is beneficial but not a requirement
What You\'ll Be Doing
You’ll be an important part of a multi‑disciplinary team of professional engineers and surveyors with responsibility for assessing Warranty applications on a wide variety of residential and mixed‑use schemes. You will be assessing in accordance with our service level agreements and operating procedures to ensure that all statutory requirements are met and meet the needs of our customers. You’ll be based from home but can expect to be out frequently, visiting sites in your geographical area. From time to time you’ll also need to visit our offices, including our head office in St Helens, Liverpool.
Key Elements of Building/Senior Surveyor Role Are To
- Assess warranty applications for residential developments and associated non‑residential uses.
- Negotiate with developers, builders, and their professional advisors, from initial design to completion, to ensure proposals are satisfactory in relation to regulation and our standards.
- Co‑ordinate warranty inspections, issue of Final Certificates, site and type approvals, and resolving problems relating to Initial Notices/Final certification.
- Support our clients/developers and internal teams with expert advice in relation to the inspection of high risk/complex elements or features of building work, the identification/communication of key inspection stages, and review of progress.
What We Are Looking For
- You will have in-depth knowledge of Building Regulations (beneficial), building pathology, technology, and technical training.
- Experienced with structural defects and related claims, engineering, warranty standards and site inspections.
- In‑depth relevant building/construction experience with substantial knowledge of the housing and commercial sectors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information to internal/external audiences.
- Be of a proactive nature, a self‑motivated approach, and a willingness to develop your role.
- Experienced in warranty standards/inspections (beneficial).
- A full Driving License is required for this role.
Job Type - Full‑time
Pay: £45,000 - £60,000 per year (dependant on experience)
