This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive educational setting, with flexible part-time working options available to suit your availability and commitments.

Option 1: Part-Time Teaching Assistant

This role is for two days per week as a minimum, working from 8:30am to 4pm, on a 0-hour flexible contract. It offers consistent weekly hours with flexibility, making it ideal for someone seeking part-time work within a supportive educational environment. Full-time work is also available, up to 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday).

Responsibilities:

  • Support young adults in classroom activities
  • Assist teaching staff with learning tasks
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support
  • Encourage independence and confidence

Option 2: Lunchtime Supervisor

This role offers flexible working hours between 11:00am and 2:00pm, depending on your availability. It operates on a flexible working arrangement, making it ideal for someone looking for shorter, adaptable shifts within a supportive educational setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during lunch periods
  • Support social interaction and positive behaviour
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment
  • Assist students who may need additional support

Option 3: Combined Role (TA + Lunchtime Supervisor)

This option provides the opportunity to work across both roles, depending on your availability. It is ideal for candidates seeking additional hours, with flexible scheduling available across the week to suit your commitments.

About the Setting

The college is an education setting based for 16 – 25 years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operates enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.

Requirements:

  • Driving is mandatory for this role
  • A caring, patient and supportive nature
  • A genuine interest in working with young adults with special educational needs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual and professional
  • Ability to promote independence and positive behaviour
  • Previous experience in education, care or support work is desirable but not essential

  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with Advantage Education.
