Are you looking for an exciting CEO role with an expanding local charity based in Bedford? Do you have a commercial leadership background and are you located within 30-35 minutes of Bedford? The Role:

The CEO will work with the Board of Trustees to provide for the strategic development of the charity, manage the activities and resources of the organisation, and ensure the delivery of its strategic outcomes and operational objectives. Utilising your knowledge, skills, and experience to ensure that the charity continues to fulfil its purpose in the years to come. The new CEO will lead the charity to achieve a robust, long-term sustainable financial position enabling the provision of high-quality, outcome-based therapies to our service users.

  • Strategic Leadership: Refresh and implement the organisation's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and management team. Ensure alignment of all programmes and activities with the charity's mission, vision, and values. Analyse and report on effectiveness and value of charitable activities. Identify and efficiently respond to opportunities for growth, innovation, and increased impact. Provide leadership and robust data-led management of operations, programmes, and services. Develop and demonstrate a positive organisational culture that promotes teamwork, diversity, and employee engagement. Oversee financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability. Create and implement effective fundraising strategies to secure necessary resources for the organisation's programmes and initiatives. Represent the organisation at public events, conferences, and meetings to promote its mission and objectives. Develop a quality assurance programme to meet the needs of reporting to service users, funders, and community bodies.
  • Governance and Trustee Relations: Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to execute strategic priorities, monitor and report organisational performance. Ensure timely and transparent communication with the Trustees regarding operations, finances, and key initiatives. Measure and report compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements governing the organisation. Produce an updated RAG rated risk management report across the business functions every six weeks. Create and share a priority action plan with internal responsibility to measure progress on strategic aims.
  • Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement: Produce a stakeholder engagement and communication strategy that identifies important and useful stakeholders according to influence. Manage and support the team ownership of the delivery of the plan. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, community leaders, and partners. Act as the primary spokesperson and public face of the organisation. Advocate for policy initiatives and public awareness campaigns aligned with the charity's mission.
  • Team Leadership and Culture: Lead, mentor, and develop the management team and therapy leaders to achieve high levels of performance. Administer performance management reviews on direct line reports. Develop a framework of meaningful outcome-focused internal meetings that are purposeful, facilitated, well recorded, and clearly aligned with the achievement of meeting strategic aims. Evaluate the impact of programmes and services, adjusting as necessary to enhance effectiveness. Report on this in a strategic review. Oversee the recruitment, deployment, and development of volunteers whose personal values are in accordance with the charity's values. Inspire, collaborate, and motivate staff.

The Person:

You will ideally have a record of successful senior leadership experience in the non-profit or charitable sector. Strong background in strategic planning, financial management, and organisational development. Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor engagement, and revenue generation. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Passion for the charity's mission and a deep understanding of the communities served. Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in non-profit management, business administration, or related field preferred. Visionary and strategic thinking. Strong interpersonal skills. Financial acumen. Incisive thinking style and record of making timely decisions. Collaborative leadership skills. Proven track record of delivering targets on time and to budget.
