Utilizes a knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the matter at hand.
Research legal principles and precedents, consult with outside counsel, draft and execute legal documents, negotiates complex agreements, gather relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods, manages litigation, provide direction to external counsel, other professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in developing solutions to problems presented.
What Part Will You Play?
- Under general guidance, assists in diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations by advising, investigating, researching, and resolving legal matters within corporate legal policies to ensure that company personnel are aware of and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Keeps informed of changes in legislation or regulations that impact the company.
- Assists with the drafting and negotiating of basic to moderately complex agreements. Assists with the review of legal documents.
- Uses highly qualified generalist legal background, and works on a broad base of assignments with particular focus in the areas of intellectual property law, licensing, servicing, vendor/supply procurement of technology services and products, regulatory/compliance, and general corporate matters.
The assignments require some originality, ingenuity, and problem-solving ability.
Participates in the negotiations with customers and third parties.
- Assists with the preparation and recommendation of legal documents by analyzing, drafting, negotiating, and reviewing these documents to ensure consistency with respect to the company's policies or principles with respect to risk and commercial and legal soundness.
- Assists with the investigation and management of claims by and against organization.
May conduct interviews, prepare reports, responses to interrogatories, litigation, and pretrial works.
- Assists in managing the legal aspect of contract negotiations, and assists outside counsel on major contracts.
- Assists with reviewing and preparing of responses to insurance coverage requirements requested contractually by customers and third parties.
- Assists in planning and directing of the corporate legal guidance and counsel on all Intellectual property matters.
- Assists with the development of up-to-date knowledge in areas of special interest to the company, including, intellectual property, software licensing issues, international and domestic contract law, privacy, data protection, financial services, insurance issues, general corporate matters, servicing, vendor procurement, and other issues affecting outsourcing of financial and payments related services.
- Juris Doctor Degree
- Relevant Experience or Degree in: Graduate of accredited law school (including all other necessary prerequisites for gaining licensure to practice law), and maintaining qualifications and licensure throughout employment
