Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Water Network Inspector to be the face of Advanced Water Infrastructure Networks (Leaf Water) onsite. The successful candidate will initially work as part of a small team, responsible for ensuring the compliance of self-lay networks against corporate design and adoption standards, and for capturing water asset information in the companys asset information management system.This is a fantastic chance to be part of a growing team and make a real impact on the delivery of water networks!

The Role

The Water Network Inspector will be responsible for a range of water network asset management, operational, and compliance tasks, including:

  • Acting as the onsite point of contact for developers and self-lay organisations.
  • Conducting self-lay trench inspections, including checks on depth, bedding material, pipe laying, and pipe commissioning.
  • Surveying new networks so assets can be geocoded and recorded in the AWIN GIS asset database.
  • Maintaining and assuring information within the AWIN GIS asset database.
  • Performing network operations such as operating valves, air valve and air valve chamber maintenance, and network flushing in accordance with requests via the AWIN workflow system.
  • Conducting network pressure testing and leakage detection.
  • Performing basic onsite water quality tests with portable kits and undertaking aesthetic water quality tests for appearance, taste, and odour.
  • Undertaking root cause analysis investigations following customer complaints, network events, and/or sample failures.

What We Are Looking For

  • Technical competence in water mains laying and water network operations, including CALM valve operations and flushing, and sufficient plumbing knowledge.
  • Hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 in Network Operations and Maintenance, Network Construction Operations Water, or an accredited plumbing course.
  • Completion (or willingness to complete) a Course in Water Regulations Enforcement.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and stakeholders.
  • Competence in using ArcGIS (or an equivalent GIS) to interrogate underground assets.
  • Basic Excel skills for inputting data and producing inspection reports.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office tools
