A rapidly growing developer of Laser and Optical Systems is now looking for an Electronics Engineer to join their team in Southampton. Working primarily in an optics laboratory environment you will be developing and delivering optical systems. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work across the whole design life-cycle of control electronics and firmware for optoelectronic devices ranging from smart modules to full laser systems.

With experience in designing firmware and electronics in a product development environment, you will be responsible for the design, development, build and testing of the control electronics and firmware to meet customer specifications. In addition to design for new products, you will be involved in the design and delivery of other electronic products within the company’s existing products. Administration duties will include developing and documenting production procedures, and training production staff on procedures.

Qualifications: We are seeking a Degree in Electronics or similar discipline. Alternatively, equivalent knowledge and experience gained through working in a similar industry will be considered.

Experience: Experience in a similar role, where you can demonstrate a proficiency in electronics and firmware design including digital and microprocessor technologies is required. In addition, experience of low noise analogue electronics design, particularly for optoelectronics is required. A proficiency in C and/or C++, coupled with experience developing embedded systems and writing firmware for microcontrollers (e.g. PICs, AVR, STM32).

Additional Information: Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without requiring sponsorship. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested for verification.

Salary / benefits: Competitive, in the region of £40-50k depending on experience, plus benefits.
