We are now looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join a rapidly growing developer of Optical/Photonic/Optoelectronic systems and products in Southampton. As a key part of the development team, you will work across the whole product design life cycle of control electronics and firmware for optoelectronic devices ranging from smart modules to full laser systems.

You will be working primarily in an optics laboratory environment developing and delivering electronic/optical systems for standard products and bespoke applications. Working as part of the development team, you will be responsible for the design, development, build and testing of the system electronics and firmware to supplied specifications. You will also aid in the design and delivery of other electronic products within the company’s existing electronic products group.

In addition to this, you will also be involved with developing and documenting production procedures, and training production staff on procedures. Having previously worked in a similar product development environment, you should have a strong attention to detail, enjoy following processes and demonstrate initiative to seek workflow efficiencies. Qualifications: Ideally you should have graduated with a relevant Degree Electronics or similar discipline or have gained equivalent knowledge through working in a similar industry.

Experience: You should also have experience of low noise analogue electronics design, particularly for optoelectronics. A proficiency in C and/or C++ is also essential, coupled with experience developing embedded systems and writing firmware for microcontrollers (e.g. PICs, AVR, STM32).

Additional Information: Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without requiring sponsorship. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested for verification. Candidates MUST hold a Full clean UK Driving Licence and own transport.
