A rapidly growing developer of disruptive technologies for AI/ML and HPC networking that will revolutionise Data Centers, is now seeking a Senior PIC Design Engineer to join their London based team.
Developing technologies which will speed up training and inference while dramatically reducing energy consumption for a sustainable future, your key responsibilities will include driving the design and simulation activity of passive and active components within the PDK. You will lead the design customisation of high performance photonic building blocks within a commercial foundry PDK. Working collaboratively within the PIC team on mask layout and support tape-out cycles into a commercial foundry. You will compose, analyse and deliver design specifications and other documentation within the Photonics supply chain, whilst supporting collaborative activities between my client and their suppliers. You will also provide analysis and drive parts of the technology roadmap. In addition you will drive Test development and data analysis activities.
Qualifications: You should hold a PhD in Physics with a focus on Photonics, Semiconductors or Optical Networks, and have gained 3 + years of relevant professional experience in Photonics Industry or academia.
Experience: Working at all stages of the product development, you must have hands on experience at all stages of device development including design, fabrication, development, testing and simulation of photonic devices, coupled with experience of relevant software. We are looking for an in depth knowledge of device physics and design of III-V semiconductor optical devices such as lasers, optical amplifiers, modulators and detectors. You should have hands on experience with III-V epitaxial layer design; designing high speed optical devices such as modulators and detectors; and strong Layout/Mask Design skills using commercial photonic layout tools (e.g. Synopsys, GDS Factory, Nazca, Klayout).
Additional Information: Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without requiring sponsorship. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested.
