We are now looking for a Lead Project Engineer to lead the Design Engineering project team in the creation, delivery and design/redesign of NPI and R&D projects. This role involves leading and mentoring a multi-disciplinary team, providing technical guidance, and supporting the professional development of team members to drive continuous improvement and project success.

Providing guidance and ensuring standards are being followed in accordance with the requirements of the business goals, objectives and AS9100 accreditation. Leading the development of new processes, R&D, improvement projects, you will be responsible for specification or the support of design projects (CAPEX). Supporting all stages of the NPI and R&D Projects, you will be actively involved in Design For Manufacture (DFM) input to new products, managing the testing of prototype and customer deliverable products.

Leading projects to improve quality, cost and efficiency, you will drive implementation of LEAN and CI practices across the organisation. You will also lead on DFMEA and capability/repeatability improvement activities. Now is an exciting time for a Project Engineer who is looking to progress into a Lead role to join a rapidly growing R&D team developing cutting-edge products.

Experience: As the successful Lead Project Engineer, you should have strong experience of working within design/manufacturing engineering teams within an NPI environment. Proven experience in direct line management, including mentoring, training, and performance management of multi-disciplinary teams. Experience in Process mapping; PFMEA/control plan development and DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma are essential for this role. Ideally you should have an awareness of optical manufacturing & assembly techniques, optomechanical engineering principles, measurement system analysis, process capability.

Qualifications: A Bachelors Level Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent is required. Significant experience in Manufacturing/Project Engineering may be considered.
