A well established leader in developing Fiber-Optic products is now looking for a highly motivated Junior Development Engineer to join their R&D team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in optical technologies, precision mechanical design, and product development within a fast-growing high-tech environment.

You will support the design, development, and validation of fiber-optic components and assemblies (e.g. connectors, optical hermetic assemblies, or packaging). You will conduct optical, mechanical, and environmental testing using industry-standard equipment (e.g., interferometers, optical power meters, pressure testers).

Working with the R&D Team, you will assist in process development and building prototypes, running experiments, collecting data, and documenting results. You will optimize product performance, improve manufacturing processes, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Qualifications:

As the successful candidate you should be qualified to BSc Degree level in Physics, Optics/Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

Experience:

In addition to your Degree, you should ideally have 0–3 years of relevant experience (internships, academic projects, industrial placements all welcome). Through your studies/work, you should have a basic understanding of optical principles such as alignment, coupling, polarization, or optical and return loss. A familiarity with mechanical design concepts and precision assembly is also required.

Additional Information:

Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK without requiring sponsorship. Copies of Passports and Visas will be requested for verification.
