We are looking for: Advanced Systems Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Broadcast Control Operator to support live broadcast and streaming operations across a growing EMEA footprint. The Broadcast Control Operator is a technical operator responsible for supporting cross‑functional projects and special coverage, including high‑priority or sensitive programming. This role requires maintaining clear and professional communication during live operations, including high‑pressure and rapid‑response situations. The Operator coordinates technical checks in real time with supervisory, operational, and engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of live shows. Broadcast Control Operators act as key incident monitors during live events, operating shows in accordance with established operational runbooks and Standard Operating Guidelines. Operators are expected to maintain proficiency with evolving broadcast platforms, infrastructure, and third‑party tools. This position is part of our Flex Workforce.
As a Flex team member, you’ll work on a project-to-project basis, supporting a variety of leading media and technology clients. Flex roles are ongoing and dynamic—work may vary in cadence, length, and scope depending on client needs. This setup offers flexibility, exposure to top-tier companies, and the chance to grow your skills across multiple exciting assignments. Estimated schedule: 2-5 Days a Month on average, scaling up during increased live programming. This position may work overnights and weekends. The expected project duration is from May through July 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Live Broadcast & Network Operations
- Act as the first line of defense for live broadcasts, executing rigorous FAX checks and technical coordination from pre‑show through live execution.
- Perform quality control (QC) checks to ensure all feeds and signals meet required distribution standards.
- Support the launch, routing, and takedown of live events across complex broadcast architectures.
- Operate and monitor complex live streaming events, ensuring overall service health and validating an optimal viewer experience.
- Participate in live event handoff processes and ensure smooth transitions between operational teams.
- Document shift turnover notes and communicate key issues to incoming operators to ensure operational continuity.
- Support cross‑functional projects and special coverage, including high‑priority or sensitive programming.
- Maintain clear, timely communication with supervisory, operational, and engineering stakeholders during live events.
- Proficient in Google Drive, Confluence, and Zoom for communication, workflow coordination, and documentation.
- Experienced in using Slack in a high-volume, alert-based monitoring environment, including managing multiple active channels simultaneously, parsing real-time bot-generated alerts, and participating in live incident threads under pressure.
- Able to write clear, concise incident summaries and communicate operational context to teammates and contractors in real time during live events.
- Experience utilizing Airtable and internal ticketing systems.
- Highly capable in environments requiring virtual machines (VMs) or elastic compute, managing multiple desktops, and efficiently handling numerous browser sessions.
- Adept at responding to alert‑based monitoring systems and working quickly with custom software tools.
- Experience in troubleshooting basic computer systems, software, and consumer devices.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in broadcast operations, live production, master control, NOC, TOC, or similar environments.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a 24/7 Broadcast Operations Center (BOC) or equivalent live operations setting, ideally within entertainment or streaming.
- Experience managing live video workflows using AWS Elemental Live and MediaConnect, with proficiency monitoring and troubleshooting via AWS CloudWatch dashboards.
- Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume, alert-based Slack monitoring environment, including managing multiple active channels simultaneously and parsing real-time bot-generated alerts while keeping programming on air.
- Strong technical understanding of signal flow, digital audio/video fundamentals, compression formats, live streaming pipelines, and CDNs.
- Experience operating or monitoring tools such as waveform monitors, vectorscopes, encoders, intercom systems, and playout servers.
- Familiarity with transport and streaming protocols including SDI, SMPTE‑2110, RTP, RTMP, SRT, and Zixi.
- Experience with monitoring platforms and cloud‑based broadcast systems (e.g., TAG Video Systems, AMPP, Zixi Broadcaster).
- Proven ability to work independently under pressure while remaining calm, decisive, and detail-focused.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with live event schedules.
Compensation: This project-based role offers an hourly pay rate of ÂŁ45 - 60 GBP per hour (10-hour day) depending on experience.
