We’re a specialist recruitment partner working with a leading manufacturer who are currently looking for experienced fabricator welders. Our client delivers a range of products for the construction industry varying from large scale pipe fabrication to plant room equipment for leading industry clients. They pride themselves on technical quality, safety, and on-time delivery.

Overview

We are seeking experienced Fabricator Welders to join the fabrication shop. You will produce heavy-gauge steel components and assemblies from drawings and welding procedures, working closely with fitters, welders, grinders, QA and production leads to meet safety, quality and schedule targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, GA drawings, weld symbols and material lists
  • Lay out, cut, level and prepare heavy-gauge plate and structural sections
  • Work with jigs/fixtures, heavy lifting equipment (overhead cranes, chains, slings) and align assemblies for welding
  • Carry out dimensional checks, straightening and grinding to finished tolerances
  • Perform basic assembly fabrication: drilling, bolting, tack-assembly and temporary/permanent joins
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure weld/inspection requirements (NDT, visual inspection) are met
  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow site safety procedures and PPE rules
  • Record time/materials and report progress to the production lead

Skills & Experience (Essential)

  • Proven experience fabricating heavy-gauge Mig (Tig is desirable)
  • Competent reading of technical drawings and welding symbols
  • Skilled in plate fitting, jigging and structural assembly
  • Ability to use fabrication tools: oxy/acetylene, plasma/oxy-fuel cutting, grinders, drills, bevelers
  • Experience with overhead cranes and safe lifting practices
