Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Contract Role – 6 months initially

Location: Acton, West London

Hourly Rate: £39.24 p/hour – Inside IR35

Working Hours: Day Shift

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters to work on a significant project at a renowned railway engineering facility in Acton, West London. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the S Stock upgrade works in the rail industry. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £39.24 and a chance to work on high-profile projects within the rail sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading and following detailed work instructions and component assembly drawings
  • Using a variety of hand tools, bearing press, and power tools
  • Setting and using a Torque Wrench, including witness marking
  • Operating overhead cranes and workshop equipment (training will be provided)
  • Using basic measuring tools, including Vernier calipers, micrometers, and rulers
  • Maintaining complex systems and machinery to the highest standards

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Mechanical qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in using hand tools, bearing press, and power tools
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions
  • Experience with torque wrenches and understanding of witness marking principles
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools accurately
  • Previous experience in the rail industry or similar sectors is desirable but not essential
