Are you an experienced commercial or project controls professional with a strong understanding of NEC4 contracts? We're looking for a Cost Consultant to support the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects by providing expert commercial assurance, financial oversight and independent challenge. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring value for money, robust commercial governance and effective contract management across a range of high-profile projects.
The Role
Working alongside Project Managers and programme teams, you will provide commercial assurance and financial insight across multiple projects, helping to ensure compliance with NEC4 contract requirements and supporting informed decision-making. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Project Managers in delivering commercial assurance across multiple projects, providing independent review and challenge of project costs.
- Reviewing payment applications and assessing compensation events under NEC4 contracts, including defined cost, programme impacts, forecasts and risk allowances.
- Providing clear commercial recommendations to support Project Managers in negotiations and decision-making.
- Monitoring project and programme financial performance, including committed costs, forecasts and budget tracking.
- Developing and maintaining cost reporting frameworks to identify financial risks, trends and opportunities.
- Producing accurate cost forecasts and commercial reporting to support business cases, funding approvals and programme governance.
- Translating complex financial and commercial information into clear, meaningful reports for senior stakeholders.
- Promoting strong commercial governance and sharing knowledge to improve commercial capability across project teams.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working in a commercial assurance, quantity surveying, project controls or commercial management role.
- Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, including payment assessments and compensation events.
- Experience monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and analysing financial performance.
- The ability to interpret commercial and financial information and present clear recommendations.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience supporting project or programme delivery within complex environments.
- Experience within the public sector or major infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
