My Client is seeking a Research & Development Engineer to lead Projects in their cutting-edge Aerospace R&D team. This is a technical leadership role on complex aerospace systems and platforms on both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.
As a Project Engineer in the R&D department, you’ll lead multidisciplinary engineering projects through Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) up to TRL6, shaping next-generation aerospace solutions. You’ll play a pivotal role in engineering task planning, technical coordination, and stakeholder engagement-driving innovation through all stages of the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead small to medium-sized R&D projects; support technical workstreams on larger programmes
- Define and manage engineering activities, work packages, and risk registers
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (e.g., stress, safety, systems) to meet milestones
- Deliver engineering design reviews and provide clear communication to internal and external stakeholders
- Manage engineering change and maintain traceability of design decisions
- Support capability planning and interface with programme management
- Degree, HNC, or apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in a complex engineering role
- Proven experience with full engineering lifecycle and design reviews
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills
- Familiarity with project scheduling and stakeholder alignment is desirable
