An exciting contract opportunity for an experienced Asset Maintenance Engineer to lead the management of highway electrical assets in Doncaster. You will oversee maintenance, replacement, and compliance testing programmes, support street lighting policy, and ensure safety and efficiency for the local highway network.

What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise all highway electrical and street lighting maintenance.
- Act as an electrical supervisor, reviewing pass/fail test results and approving/signing off work.
- Manage testing cycles, inspections, structural surveys, and statutory compliance.
- Hold and manage operational budgets with full accountability.
- Maintain asset and certification records, including supporting a transition from Sinology to I-AURA (or similar top-tier systems).
- Support change and improvement initiatives within the department - ideas welcomed.
- Provide expert advice across teams and help shape energy-efficient lighting schemes.
- Foster technical standards, ensure safety compliance, and guide contractors.
What You'll Bring

- Excellent understanding of statutory obligations and compliance.
- Comfortable working with asset management systems (experience with "big 4" systems is ideal).

Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead highway electrical asset management, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and H&S requirements.
- Develop and manage cyclic and reactive maintenance programmes, controlling budgets and costs.
- Maintain accurate asset records and statutory certifications.
- Handle unmetered energy extract, accident damage, and insurance claims.
- Provide technical guidance for energy-efficient lighting and traffic schemes.
- Deputise for the CMS Manager and Highways Electrical Duty Holder as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications Include
- Experience in managing Electrical assets.
- Experience of all asset types associated with Street lighting and other relevant equipment managed by the service on the highway.
- Knowledge of all Statutory requirements in managing Street lighting assets.
- Significant experience of managing electrical sub-contractors.
- Detailed Knowledge of Unmetered Supply connections HESA G39 210 Working in Vicinity of DNO Equipment & 214 Safe Isolation.
- Knowledge and experience of Institute of Lighting Professionals TR22 & GN22 approved codes of practise.
- Significant experience of Microsoft Office Software, particularly Excel.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Full, clean driving licence.
This hands-on contract role delivers safe, compliant, and efficient highway electrical infrastructure across Doncaster.
Working Pattern & Location
- 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday (approx. 9am-5pm depending on department).
- Hybrid: around 4 days a week on site, depending on team needs and office cover.
- Depot-based (with permit parking) plus face-to-face meetings at the Civic Office.
- Initial 3-month contract - with the potential to extend.
