  • 7-Month contract - Inside IR35 - up to £440 per day
  • London based - hybrid working - 3 days a week onsite

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automation Application Developer to design, develop and support intelligent business automation solutions across the organisation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the engineering transformation and automation initiatives, delivering scalable solutions using Ui Path while also developing supporting applications, integrations and services using C#/.

NET and SQL technologies.

Working within an Agile delivery environment, you will collaborate with business stakeholders, application teams, infrastructure engineers and architects to identify automation opportunities, streamline operational processes and improve service efficiency across banking functions.

This is a hands‑on engineering role requiring a strong combination of RPA development, application development, systems integration and production support experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation Solution Delivery
  • Analyse business processes and identify opportunities for automation and optimisation.
  • Gather and document functional and technical requirements.
  • Create and maintain Solution Design Documents (SDDs), Technical Design Documents and operational support documentation.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy enterprise‑grade automation solutions using Ui Path.
  • Develop reusable automation components, frameworks and libraries to accelerate delivery.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to governance, security and operational standards.
  • Application Development & Integration
  • Develop supporting applications, utilities and services using C#/. NET.
  • Build and maintain integrations with internal and external platforms using REST APIs, web services and message‑based interfaces.
  • Design and develop SQL‑based data processing, reporting and automation capabilities.
  • Work with SQL Server and Oracle databases to support automated workflows and data management requirements.
  • Production Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and production deployments.
  • Investigate incidents, defects and process failures, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes.
  • Monitor automation performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer activities and provide support to operational teams.
  • Agile Delivery
  • Work within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives and release activities.
  • Leverage Dev Ops practices and tooling to support automated deployment and testing processes.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across multiple workstreams.

  • Technical Skills
  • Strong experience developing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions using Ui Path.
  • Hands‑on experience with Ui Path Orchestrator, deployment and bot management.
  • Solid development experience in C# and . NET technologies.
  • Strong SQL development skills, including query optimisation and database design.
  • Experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Experience designing and implementing API integrations.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and secure coding practices.
  • Experience using Jira and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and Dev Ops practices.
  • Functional Experience
  • Experience analysing and documenting business processes.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Experience producing high‑quality technical and solution documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience supporting production applications and automation platforms.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to Capital Markets, Operations, Risk, Finance or Regulatory functions.
  • Experience working in enterprise‑scale transformation programmes.
  • Knowledge of automation governance, control frameworks and operational risk management.
  • Exposure to cloud‑based integration and modern engineering practices.
  • Understanding of infrastructure automation and process orchestration concepts.
