We are currently recruiting for a Materials & Stores Manager to support the efficient management of materials, stores, equipment and stock within a safety-critical engineering environment.
You will ensure materials and critical spares are available to support planned and reactive maintenance, while managing suppliers, procurement activity, stock control and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day materials, stores and stock control.
- Procure spares, equipment and materials in line with maintenance requirements.
- Manage supplier performance, quality and delivery.
- Obtain quotations and negotiate competitive pricing.
- Maintain accurate inventory and procurement records using Maximo or equivalent.
- Manage the engineering materials budget within delegated authority.
- Develop strategies for obsolete materials and replacement spares.
- Manage COSHH records and support H&S compliance.
- Monitor recycling and environmental targets.
- Support engineering planning and safety meetings.
- Safely load/unload deliveries and operate relevant vehicles/equipment.
Key Requirements
- Experience in procurement, materials or stores management.
- Knowledge of stock control and planned maintenance systems, ideally Maximo or equivalent.
- Experience within a safety-critical engineering or operational environment.
- Transport, rail or marine engineering experience is desirable.
- Strong supplier management, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritise procurement activity and work to tight deadlines.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Knowledge of vessel/boat operations and engineering principles would be advantageous.
