AMD's Human Resources team is seeking an Employee Relations Manager —an insightful, adaptable, and technically proficient individual. This crucial role involves direct interactions with employees, managers, and Country leaders, conducting complex investigations, managing performance-related cases, misconduct cases, providing strategic direction on ER matters to leaders, consulting managers on handling complex employee situations, and interpreting the employment laws of the country. This role is responsible for significantly enhancing our HR systems and workflows, aligning with legal, industry, and best practices, supporting our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace and impacting our corporate culture and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex employee relations related investigations with limited supervision, honoring complete confidentiality, neutrality, fairness, and exercising best workplace investigation practices.
  • Independently handle allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, bullying, misconduct, bias, and other inappropriate behaviour across regions like Southeast Asia locations - Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Japan.
  • Conduct robust investigations into employee complaints and allegations of misconduct in a timely, fair, and balanced way.
  • Identify and assess the scale and scope of alleged or confirmed conduct that is deemed inappropriate, impermissible, or unacceptable.
  • Partner with legal counsel as needed and follow thorough investigations through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate files, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Effectively handle employee relations issues and concerns, minimising corporate risk and improving employee experience.
  • Exhibit strong professional judgment, emotional intelligence, and collaborate across functions and regions.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners in HR, Legal, HR Ops, TA, TR, Govt Relations, and the business.
  • Articulate the country local laws and provide guidance to the leadership team for any Labour compliance and law regulation changes.
  • Be a SPOC to APJ Leadership for strategic ER advice, consult on difficult employee conversations, and support in any ER conflict resolution.
  • Partner and assist the Corporate Investigations team for conducting local employee investigations.
  • Work collaboratively on employee relations matters such as corrective actions including warnings or performance improvement plans.
  • Review policy and enhance them periodically evaluating the risks; work with legal advisors to ensure compliance and understanding legislation.
  • Proactively lead the delivery and deployment of new ER Practices and review/redefine existing ones.
  • Support all Labour compliance activities/audits and state laws.
  • Ensure continuous improvement by actively identifying gaps, proposing, and implementing changes and innovative solutions.
  • Develop metrics and leverage analytics to track progress of ER programs and create comprehensive review decks for the Leadership team.
  • Build and maintain an online repository of knowledge updates and best practices for easy access and retrieval.
  • Improve employee experience in all HR life cycle functions.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of management training programs designed to advance the employee relations skills of people managers.
  • Facilitate training to build employee relations skills among people managers.
  • Assist with ad-hoc employee relations and HR department projects.
  • Make suggestions to leaders and HR Business Partners on employee engagement, policy or process improvements based on trends and risks.

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong ER experience leading investigations and consulting on Southeast Asia Employee Relations Matters with strong investigation experience and vast knowledge across HR functions with a particular focus on employee relations (Conflict management, Harassment, Retaliation, Performance management, Favoritism).
  • Strong knowledge of Labour laws and compliance across South East Asian Countries, Australia, and Japan.
  • Exceptional communication skills, case documentation and report writing skills, executive leadership presentation, and relationship development skills.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, think creatively, be flexible, and roll up your sleeves.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical skills with the ability to determine the root cause of issues with a growth mindset to constant learning and re-learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for projects.
  • Highly collaborative and able to work both within and across teams globally.
  • Experience in a high growth, fast-paced matrix environment.
  • Professional, confident manner, poised and articulate demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide array of personality types and all job levels.
  • Demonstrated history of exemplary ethics and integrity, including the ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree specialised in Human Resources; Employment Law degree is an added advantage.
  • Degree/Certification in Employment Acts, Industrial Relations, Counselling, and Coaching.
