Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Calibration and Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance and Facilities team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the calibration, verification, maintenance, and documentation of a wide range of instrumentation and measuring equipment used across manufacturing, laboratory, and facility operations.
This role is critical in ensuring equipment accuracy, regulatory compliance, product quality, and operational reliability.
The position requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- What the role involves
- Perform scheduled calibrations of instruments and equipment in accordance with defined procedures and calibration schedules.
- Maintain calibration records and ensure all documentation complies with quality system requirements.
- Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and certify instrumentation where appropriate.
- Coordinate external calibration providers and verify calibration certificates.
- Support investigations relating to instrument failures, out‑of‑tolerance conditions, and deviations.
- Ensure calibration status labels are maintained and updated on all applicable equipment.
- Manage and maintain calibration databases and asset registers.
- Assist with qualification and validation activities where required.
- Support internal and external audits by providing calibration records and technical expertise.
- Identify opportunities to improve calibration processes, equipment reliability, and compliance.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, and Laboratory teams.
- Work closely with maintenance technicians for planned and reactive Maintenance activities.
- What we’re looking for
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or engineering environments.
- Understanding of calibration principles and measurement uncertainty.
- Experience calibrating equipment such as: Temperature sensors and probes, Pressure gauges and transmitters, Flow meters, Conductivity and p H equipment, Balances and weighing systems and Data loggers and environmental monitoring equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and instrumentation diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within GMP, pharmaceutical, medical device, food, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, GMP, or other quality management systems.
- Familiarity with CMMS or calibration management software.
