The Role
As a CNC Turner, you’ll be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines to manufacture precision-engineered components to tight tolerances. Working within a modern machining environment, you’ll play a key role in delivering quality products efficiently while supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme, set, and operate CNC turning machines.
- Manufacture precision components in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling, machine settings, and cutting parameters for each job.
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Maintain exceptional quality standards and work to tight tolerances.
- Meet production schedules while ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organised work area.
- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes and productivity.
- Comply with all Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support production objectives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Previous experience as a CNC Turner within a precision engineering environment.
- Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- A strong understanding of machining tolerances and quality standards.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a skilled manufacturing team.
- A positive attitude and commitment to producing high-quality components.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Siemens control systems.
- Experience machining a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Experience working within an ISO-accredited manufacturing environment.
