Double day shifts (early finish Fridays) Monday to Friday mornings and afternoons rotating. Week 1: 6am - 2.30pm (finish at 1pm on Fridays), Week 2: 2pm - 10.30pm (finish at 6pm on Fridays). £46,200 (including shift allowance).
Are you a CNC Machinist looking to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Luton? This role is not just about pushing a button. You'll need to be confident reading and understanding engineering drawings, working out the material required, setting up the machine and programming and operating it to produce the finished component. You'll be working with bespoke machinery and low-volume production, so you'll need to be confident working independently, solving problems and making decisions throughout the machining process.
Job Role:
- Setting, programming and operating CNC milling machines or CNC lathes
- Machining components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Working to close tolerances and high-quality standards
- Using measuring equipment including micrometres and Vernier calipers
- Manufacturing and modifying tooling, jigs and fixtures where required
- Making adjustments to machine settings to ensure components meet specification
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines
- Experience programming CNC machines would be desirable
- Experience with CNC vertical mills and/or CNC lathes
- Experience with any of Hurco, Fanuc, Mazatrol / Mazak, Siemens / Doosan Puma controls would be advantageous
- Confident reading and working from engineering drawings
- Able to work to close tolerances
- Manual machining experience would be advantageous, as would a time-served apprenticeship would be desirable
