Auxo Talent is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for two experienced Laser Cutting Operators to join their production team in Birmingham. The Role
As a Laser Cutting Operator, you’ll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting and laser marking equipment to produce high-quality components to customer specifications. You’ll work from technical drawings and production documentation, ensuring products meet strict quality standards while maintaining efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate laser cutting and laser marking machinery in line with production schedules.
- Load and verify programs, materials, and job specifications.
- Manufacture components to engineering drawings, artwork, and customer requirements.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimise quality and productivity.
- Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment.
- Perform quality checks to ensure components meet specification.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Identify and report production issues, defects, or non-conformances.
- Complete production documentation accurately.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
- Support assembly, finishing, packaging, and dispatch activities when required.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow 5S principles.
- Comply with all Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and quality teams.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Previous experience operating laser cutting or laser marking machinery.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- A strong eye for detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience producing components for the aerospace, automotive, rail, or industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Understanding of barcode, QR code, or serial number marking processes.
