The role requires a combination of electrical, electronic, automation, and mechanical skills to ensure maximum equipment uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency.What you’ll be doingEquipment MaintenancePerform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules.Diagnose and repair faults on PCB manufacturing and assembly equipment, including:SMT (Surface Mount Technology) machinesReflow ovensWave soldering systemsSelective soldering equipmentAOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systemsPick-and-place machinesPCB routing and handling equipmentTest and inspection systemsRespond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.Develop and maintain critical spares stock levels.Electrical and Electronic SupportTroubleshoot electrical, electronic, PLC, sensor, and control system faults.Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.Carry out repairs on electrical panels, motors, drives, power supplies, and control circuits.Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines.Support continuous improvement activities through equipment modifications and upgrades.Mechanical MaintenanceDiagnose and repair mechanical faults including bearings, belts, chains, conveyors, lead screws, pneumatic systems, and mechanical assemblies.Perform equipment alignment, adjustment, lubrication, and replacement of worn components.Maintain pneumatic and vacuum systems used within manufacturing processes.Support machine rebuilds, refurbishments, and process improvement projects.Fabricate or modify simple mechanical parts and fixtures where required.Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency.Support root cause analysis of recurring equipment issues.Participate in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.Maintain accurate maintenance records and update maintenance management systems.Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and process improvements.Compliance and SafetyEnsure all work is carried out in accordance with company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safe isolation procedures.Support compliance with ISO, IPC, and customer-specific standards where applicable.Maintain a clean and organised working environment.Relevant experienceEssentialExperience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.Strong fault-finding skills on electrical and electronic systems.Good mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining industrial machinery.Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.Experience working with pneumatic systems and automated equipment.DesirableExperience within PCB, electronics, SMT, or high-tech manufacturing.Knowledge of PLC diagnostics and industrial networks.Experience with servo systems, robotics, or machine vision equipment.Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and TPM principles.Education and trainingEssentialRecognised engineering qualification (HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or Maintenance Engineering.DesirableIPAF or PASMA certifications.Safety Certification, ie IOSH.Skills, abilities and specialist knowledgeComputer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.Strong problem-solving and communication skills.Proactive and self-motivated.Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Strong attention to detail.Team-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality.Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.BenefitsAt Advanced, people are at the heart of our success.
