Advanced Diagnostics, part of dormakaba, specializes in designing and manufacturing cutting-edge car key programming and diagnostic equipment for locksmiths and automotive technicians worldwide.
We are looking for a smart and curious individual with a passion for problem solving and software development to join our Reverse Engineering Team in Nuneaton (UK) as our new Software Engineer. Your day-to-day role will include:
- Cryptanalysis of algorithms
- Analysis of various microcontroller architectures
- Using IDA Pro
- Logging vehicle communications (CAN Bus, K-Line)
- Developing C/C++ applications for our tools
- Using Python to develop in-house routines for vehicle communication
- Testing procedures on various vehicles
- Participating in Scrum meetings and reporting to the Scrum Master
- Using Jira to track tasks and activities
Who we are looking for:
- Degree in Automotive Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in C and embedded systems development
- Understanding of software development methodologies
- Recent graduates are welcome to apply
- Strong ability to learn and absorb complex information effectively
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of automotive electrical systems, networks, and architectures (CAN Bus, K-Line, J1850)
- Experience with garage diagnostics is an advantage (ISO 15765-2/UDS, Keyword 2000, DoIP)
- Experience using automotive logging tools (e.g., Vector CANcase, Intrepid neoVI)
- Knowledge of transponder technology
- Knowledge of, or interest in, software and hardware security measures and vulnerabilities
- Experience with at least one of the following cryptographic algorithms: AES, DES, 3DES, RSA
- Knowledge of automotive bootloaders
- Cryptanalysis experience
- Good mathematical understanding of cryptographic algorithms
- Experience disassembling binary files using IDA Pro
- Cross-compilation experience
- Familiarity with assembler instruction sets for one or more of the following architectures: MC9S12(X), NEC V850E1, Renesas RH850, Intel x86, Intel x64, MPC56/57/58
- Knowledge of hardware side-channel attacks, including Voltage Glitching, Clock Glitching, and EMFI
