We are seeking a highly motivated Autism & Positive Behaviour Support Registered Manager to work closely with the Operations Manager, leading and directly line managing a support team across Poole and Bournemouth. You will oversee high quality support for adults with learning disabilities, mental health, autism and behaviours of concern living in their own homes, ensuring individuals are at the heart of all we do. You will be working in a complex needs transition home for adults between age of 16 – 25 and supporting them to transition from childhood into adulthood. You will lead by example, championing outstanding, personalised support and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will create a culture where your team feel valued, supported and equipped with the skills, confidence and tools to deliver the best possible outcomes. Success in this role means individuals receive the highest quality support and are empowered to live their best lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, person-centred and empowering support, ensuring safeguarding, MCA compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Promote independence, communication and meaningful community participation.
  • Recruit, train and support a skilled, values-driven team, providing supervision, coaching and effective performance management.
  • Maintain strong communication, a positive team culture and efficient rota planning.
  • Ensure high CQC standards and compliance with audits, contractual requirements, H&S, fire safety and GDPR.
  • Manage service budgets effectively and work collaboratively with families, commissioners and professionals.
  • Lead Autism and PBS assessments, behaviour analysis and data-informed behaviour support plans.
  • Use assessment tools (AFLS, FAI), deliver PBS/Autism training and contribute to Communities of Practice.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent), including Principles of Leadership & Management, or willingness to complete.
  • Experience delivering high quality, personalised support in Health and Social Care.
  • Practical experience supporting people with autism and/or complex behaviour.
  • Understanding of support planning, risk assessing and reviewing personalised support.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and coach teams, set clear expectations and manage performance.
  • Confident, professional, compassionate and respectful approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with ICT systems including Microsoft Office and digital care platforms (e.g., iPlanit).
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and PRIDE values.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some weekends, bank holidays, waking nights or sleep-ins.
  • Ability to coach staff in managing behaviours that challenge and promote reflective practice.

Desirable:

  • PBS, PBM or NAPPI Accredited Trainer β€” or commitment to register within 3 months.
  • Experience managing teams, setting objectives and achieving goals.
  • Skills in person-centred rota planning.
  • Experience developing behaviour support plans for individuals with complex needs or autism.
  • Knowledge of Health & Social Care Act 2008, CQC requirements and guidelines, Social housing regulatory frameworks, and experience with budget and financial management.
