The Opportunity
Our client is a highly respected engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering major rail and transportation projects across the UK. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Telecoms Design Engineer / CRE to support the delivery of complex railway telecoms design projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced telecoms professional with strong railway systems knowledge to take a leading technical role within a collaborative and forward-thinking engineering environment.
The Role
As a Senior Telecoms Design Engineer / CRE, you will be responsible for the production, review and coordination of telecoms designs in line with Network Rail standards, London Underground or HS2 processes and procedures. You will play a key role in technical delivery across a range of rail infrastructure projects, whilst also providing leadership and guidance to design teams where required. The successful candidate will work across multidisciplinary project environments, attending technical and interdisciplinary meetings, supporting project engineering activities and ensuring designs are delivered to the highest technical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Production and review of telecoms designs in accordance with Network Rail standards and procedures
- Acting as Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) where appropriate
- Supporting project delivery through technical leadership and engineering assurance
- Leading and mentoring design teams on selected projects
- Reviewing and approving technical documentation and design deliverables
- Attending IDC/IDR meetings and other stakeholder design reviews
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality and project requirements throughout the design life-cycle
Requirements
- Experience within a railway telecoms design environment
- Strong demonstrable experience of SISS (Station Information and Surveillance Systems) CCTV, PA, CIS, VSS, SMS, Access Control. Ideally experience of Operational Communications systems, but not essential
- Good understanding of Network Rail standards, processes and approvals
- Previous experience operating at Senior Engineer or CRE level
- Ability to lead technical activities and support junior designers
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
