About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior or Principal Flood Modeller to join their established Catchment Modelling and Strategy team. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across the UK, supporting public and private sector clients in delivering sustainable flood risk and water management solutions.
The successful candidate will lead flood modelling studies, undertake flood risk assessments, support junior team members and contribute to the delivery of complex multidisciplinary projects. Applications are welcomed from experienced Senior Flood Modellers as well as individuals already operating at Principal level, with responsibilities tailored to suit experience and career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise flood modelling studies and flood risk projects
- Produce and lead Flood Risk Assessments
- Review and resolve technical hydraulic modelling issues
- Undertake technical reviews of hydraulic models
- Support, mentor and develop junior team members
- Assist with line management responsibilities
- Prepare project proposals, bids and fee estimates
- Manage project delivery, resources and quality assurance processes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams
- Champion technical excellence, innovation and best practice
- Contribute to client relationships and project growth initiatives
- For Principal-level candidates, provide technical leadership and support business development activities
What Our Client is Looking For
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, Geology, Water Resources, Engineering Hydrology or a related discipline
- Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with a relevant professional institution such as CIWEM or ICE
- Strong experience in fluvial flood modelling
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as TUFLOW, ESTRY and/or Flood Modeller
- Experience undertaking Flood Risk Assessments
- Strong understanding of UK flood risk policy including NPPF and TAN15
- Ability to manage projects and supervise technical delivery
- Experience operating at Senior or Principal level within a consultancy or engineering environment
Desirable Experience
- Water resource assessment experience
- Environmental Impact Assessment experience
- Experience preparing Environmental Statements
- Knowledge of UK hydrological methodologies including the Flood Estimation Handbook
- Experience with Integrated Catchment Modelling
- Experience delivering Surface Water Management Plans and SuDS projects
- Client management and business development experience
- Technical leadership experience across multidisciplinary teams
