About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Design Engineer to support live projects within the Grid Access Substations and HVDC Converter Stations sector. This is a technically demanding role requiring close coordination across civil, structural and M&E disciplines. You will contribute to the development, review and governance of technical solutions, ensuring work packages are delivered on time and to budget.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and review civil and structural design solutions for substations and HVDC infrastructure projects
- Provide technical input and governance across live project deliverables
- Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary design teams
- Plan and manage design work packages to programme and budget
- Review calculations and design outputs from third parties, ensuring technical accuracy and economic efficiency
- Interpret and assess pre-construction information, including geotechnical reports and drainage assessments
- Support planning consent processes and manage external design consultants
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and relevant health & safety legislation
- Occasional site visits to resolve construction-level issues
What Our Client is Looking For:
- Strong experience in a civil/structural design consultancy environment
- Proven background in both civil and structural design, ideally within power transmission or comparable sectors (energy from waste, petrochemical, water)
- Working knowledge of M&E design coordination principles
- Experience with earthworks design and Specification for Highway Works
- Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g. Masterseries, Tedds, STAAD.Pro)
- Sound understanding of British and European design codes and Building Regulations
- Ability to review and interrogate technical calculations (manual and software-generated)
- Familiarity with drainage impact assessments and geotechnical investigations
- Strong understanding of design programme scheduling and cross-discipline dependencies
- Confident managing third-party design scope and timelines
- Effective client-facing communication skills
- Degree qualified in Design, Engineering or Construction
- Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable equivalent experience
