Reporting To: Senior Package Manager

The Role

Looking for a Package Manager or experienced Sub-Agent to take ownership of major Structural Steel and Station Envelope packages (Roof, Cladding, Glazing) on a Tier 1 mega-project. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of these critical packages, managing subcontractor output, driving site safety, resolving complex design interfaces, and keeping commercial parameters tightly controlled under NEC3. You will directly line-manage 1-2 Assistant Package Managers. On site at least 4 days per week, with 1 day from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Package Leadership: Lead day-to-day delivery of structural steelwork and envelope scopes, line-managing Assistant Package Managers.
  • Design & Interface Management: Work alongside design management teams and subcontractors to deliver subcontract design portions and resolve escalated site clashes.
  • Commercial & NEC3 Control: Partner with the Package QS to administer the contract, track works against Works Information, and identify/manage notifiable events under NEC3.
  • Subcontractor Management: Track deliverables, measure KPI performance, manage Activity Readiness certifications, and accurately log labor and plant resource levels.
  • Site & Build ability: Drive construction sequence strategies, conduct scope gap analysis, value-engineer design proposals, and manage temporary works and lifting solutions.
  • Stakeholder Interface: Manage technical and operational interfaces with key external bodies, transport authorities, and utility providers.

Requirements

Essential

  • Education: Degree (BSc, BEng, MSc) in Civil Engineering or equivalent NVQ/HND qualification.
  • Contractual Knowledge: Proven working knowledge of NEC3 (identifying early warnings, compensation events, working through Works Information).
  • Delivery Track Record: Civil engineering/infrastructure experience on large-scale Tier 1 projects. Experience with roofing and facade systems, steelwork background also of interest.
  • Management Experience: Background in subcontractor monitoring, site activity management, lifting solutions, and temporary works.
  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card; full right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Direct experience with Structural Steelwork, Roofing, Cladding, or Glazing packages.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • Professional membership (ICE, APM, or equivalent).
  • Prior interface experience with rail asset owners or major utility providers.
  • Familiarity with project platforms (CEMAR, Business Collaborator, eB).
