Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Ecological Consultant to join their growing East Anglia team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established ecologist looking to take on a senior role with the opportunity to develop into team leadership while delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ecological projects from tender through to completion.
- Produce high-quality technical reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs), and European Protected Species Licence (EPSL) applications.
- Manage project budgets, programmes, and client relationships.
- Lead field surveys and provide technical guidance to junior ecologists.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Support business development through tender preparation and client engagement.
- Work towards or undertake line management responsibilities.
Requirements
- Degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline.
- Strong consultancy experience within the UK ecology sector.
- Excellent knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and survey methodologies.
- Experience producing EcIAs, HRAs, and protected species licence applications.
- Protected species licences are highly desirable.
- Full CIEEM membership.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
Desirable Skills
- Ornithology experience.
- Botanical survey skills.
- Protected species mitigation licences.
- Previous line management or mentoring experience.
