Human Factors Consultant
**Candidates from all locations across the UK will be considered and can be based from their most local client office**
We have an exciting opportunity to join our innovative, personable, talented, and growing team of Human Factors specialists who value our colleagues and work collaboratively to ensure our clients receive cutting edge Human Factors solutions. We work across a range of sectors providing Human Factors Integration (HFI) to Safety Cases, Engineering Programmes typically within increasingly complex socio-technical systems. We provide expertise to enhance human performance within high hazard industry creating safe, effective and efficient systems. The breadth and depth of our technical expertise enables us to provide practical and flexible solutions to the most complex challenges.
The initial focus of your work is likely to be Defence Nuclear related projects, but other market areas are also growing in demand for Human Factors resource, as clients gain awareness of the benefits that Human Factors capability can deliver to their businesses. On occasion travel to client’s sites may be required or other office locations for collaborative working. We are looking for Human Factors consultants with experience in providing Human Factors safety assessment to join our growing team.
Your purpose:
- Working in multi-disciplinary teams on major programmes and carrying out specialised work on an individual basis, as well as providing support to senior colleagues in delivering specific project outputs.
- Maintaining client relationships and supporting business development activities including, identifying opportunities, and providing input to bids.
- Contributing to innovation and knowledge sharing across our Human Factors community.
What you can bring:
- A curiosity of the Human Factors Safety Assurance process.
- Experience working within high hazard engineering environment and are familiar with engineering terminology.
- Experience of providing Human Factors support to Safety Cases (this may be limited experience), such as development and substantiation of Human-Based Safety Claims. With a desire to further develop your knowledge and experience in this area.
- Knowledge of Human Reliability Assessment methods and techniques within the high hazard industry, such as task and error analysis, HEART and THERP.
- Knowledge of relevant Human Factors UK and international standards/guidance and their application.
- A good degree or post graduate qualification in Human Factors or a related discipline, such as psychology, engineering or industrial design. CIEHF Registered Member status or equivalent or working towards chartership.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Evidence of a commitment to technical excellence and continued professional development.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and client facing skills.
