Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects across their allocated regions. This is a senior leadership role responsible for:

  • Client relationship management

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will oversee a team of Project Managers and support staff, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget, and in line with client expectations. You will champion a "Right First Time" culture across all aspects of project delivery, maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients within your allocated region, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
  • Developing a detailed understanding of client requirements and project objectives to ensure successful delivery of works.
  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of Project Managers and associated delivery personnel.
  • Supporting the Operations Director with recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development of operational staff.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Monitoring project performance through regular reviews of programme, cost, risk, and resource allocation.
  • Promoting and ensuring compliance with the company's Integrated Management System and operational procedures.
  • Collaborating with fellow Operations Managers and the Operational Conformance Manager to optimise resource utilisation and operational performance.
  • Managing supplier and subcontractor relationships, including performance evaluation and selection of new delivery partners.
  • Providing regular progress updates and operational reports to the Operations Director, highlighting project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence throughout the business.
  • Ensuring efficient management of personal and team workloads to achieve business objectives and delivery targets.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering complex projects within the UK water and wastewater sector.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
  • Experience managing project budgets, commercial performance, and financial reporting.
  • Strong planning, programming, and project controls experience.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of driving high-performance teams.
