Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to support the delivery of a major substation project in Suffolk. The role requires a highly capable, self-sufficient planner who can work independently on site, providing robust programme control, progress reporting, and planning assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update fully logic-linked project programmes using Primavera P6
  • Manage and report Total Float, critical path, and programme risk to key stakeholders
  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics, including performance analysis and forecasting
  • Support change control, impact assessments, and programme recovery activities
  • Provide planning input aligned to NEC contracts (including compensation events and programme submissions)
  • Interface closely with site teams, commercial, and project management to ensure accurate progress capture
  • Produce high-quality planning reports, dashboards, and narrative commentary
  • Challenge programme assumptions and provide proactive planning advice

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6
  • Proven understanding of Total Float, critical path analysis, and schedule logic
  • Solid experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles
  • Good working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 / NEC4)
  • Experience working on substation, power, or major infrastructure projects
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and operate confidently on site
  • Strong stakeholder communication and reporting skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with progress measurement techniques and rules of credit
  • Knowledge of risk planning tools and schedule risk analysis
  • Background in power transmission, distribution, or energy infrastructure projects

Working Arrangement

3 days per week on site in Suffolk. Remaining days flexible / remote, subject to project requirements.
