Job Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our client, to join a well-established in-house design team delivering innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial scoping and optioneering through detailed design, construction support, and project implementation. Working within a multi-disciplinary environment, you will lead mechanical design activities, ensure compliance with industry standards, and contribute to the delivery of sustainable, low-carbon engineering solutions. Lead mechanical design activities across a range of water and wastewater treatment projects. Oversee mechanical design deliverables from project inception through to implementation and handover. Ensure designs comply with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Coordinate design reviews, checking, and approval processes to maintain quality and consistency. Develop and manage mechanical design deliverables within multi-disciplinary project teams. Mentor and support junior engineers, helping to develop technical capability within the team. Consider and promote health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements throughout the design process. Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Support project change management processes and programme delivery requirements. Degree, HND, or HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Proven mechanical design engineering experience within the municipal water and/or wastewater treatment sector. Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering design teams. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and relevant industry standards. Experience delivering projects across all design stages, including optioneering, FEED, detailed design, construction support, and as-built documentation. Programme and financial management experience would be advantageous. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Full UK Driving Licence.
