A leading UK multi‑utility infrastructure provider specialising in the design, construction and installation of electricity, gas, water, street lighting and EV charging infrastructure for residential, commercial and industrial developments. Operates a fully integrated project delivery model, managing utility projects from initial design and approvals through to installation, commissioning and network adoption. This approach provides clients with a single point of contact and streamlined delivery across multiple utility disciplines.
Key Duties:
- Design LV and HV electrical distribution networks for residential, commercial and industrial developments.
- Produce electrical design documentation including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, general arrangements and cable sizing calculations.
- Carry out earthing assessments and ensure designs comply with current industry standards and regulations.
- Develop technically compliant network and substation designs in accordance with DNO, IDNO, ENA and G81 requirements.
- Obtain design approvals from DNOs, IDNOs and relevant adopting authorities.
- Provide specialist electrical engineering advice and technical support to project stakeholders.
- Coordinate electrical designs with gas, water and other utility disciplines to support multi‑utility project delivery.
- Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), equipment manufacturers, contractors and developers.
- Conduct technical peer reviews and quality assurance checks prior to design submission.
- Support tendering activities through technical input and outline design preparation.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety requirements, industry standards and company procedures.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring designs are delivered accurately, on programme and within budget.
- Support operational teams through construction, energisation and final network connection.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and trainees.
Key Requirements:
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in LV and HV electrical network design within the UK utility sector.
- Strong understanding of UK DNO and IDNO network requirements and standards.
- Detailed knowledge of G81 documentation, ENA Engineering Recommendations and NERS accreditation requirements.
- Experience designing electrical distribution networks, substations and earthing systems.
- Knowledge of transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cables and electrical plant specifications.
- Understanding of DNO protection requirements and network operational constraints.
- Ability to interpret and apply UK electrical standards, regulations and industry codes of practice.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and technical decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and prioritising workload effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
