Role Overview
Advance TRS is partnering with a leading UK multi-utility infrastructure provider to recruit an Electrical Supervisor to join their operational team based at their Head Office in Westhoughton. The successful candidate will work within the existing operational team and report directly to the Electrical Manager. While there is flexibility to develop the role, the primary focus will be to support the day-to-day management of electrical resources and ensure electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business requirements. This role would suit an experienced electrical fitter, jointer, or electrically biased engineer looking to progress into a supervisory position.
Overall Purpose of the Role
To assist the Electrical Manager in managing direct and subcontract electrical resources, ensuring all electrical installation works—particularly substations and MSUs—are completed to programme, specification, and quality standards. The role will have responsibility for overseeing the full lifecycle of substation installations, from civils build and inspections through to cable terminations, electrical fit-out, and final completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage fitter and jointing resources on a day-to-day basis.
- Produce and check work instructions.
- Carry out substation build inspections, including civils works.
- Supervise substation electrical fit-outs.
- Arrange and oversee MSU installations, including internal trunking and cable tails.
- Audit site resources and workmanship.
- Manage material call-offs.
- Assist with programming and scheduling of works.
- Liaise with clients and their appointed contractors during substation builds.
- Attend site and coordination meetings.
- Interface with IDNO and DNO counterparts.
- Manage non-conformances and snagging lists through to resolution and closure.
- Support safe systems of work and quality assurance processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Jointing or electrical background within a DNO or IDNO environment.
- Experience with electrical installation works.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to company values and operational excellence.
