Site Engineer – Major Civils / Earthworks

Location: Middlesbrough
Contract: 6 Months
Salary/Rate: Up to 450 p/d Inside IR35

We’re looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Middlesbrough, supporting the delivery of earthworks, civils and roadworks.

This is a great opportunity for a Site Engineer with strong setting out and major infrastructure experience to join a busy delivery team and play a key role in the successful delivery of the works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engineering and setting-out activities across earthworks, civils, roadworks and service installations.
  • Carry out accurate setting out and surveying, working from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Support and mentor junior Site Engineers, ensuring high standards of engineering and site delivery.
  • Manage Permit-to-Dig activities, including CAT & Genny use and safe excavation practices.
  • Review drawings, identify issues and raise Technical Queries / Field Change Requests where required.
  • Assist with QA processes, inspections, NCRs and maintaining quality records.
  • Produce and manage 3-4 week look-ahead programmes, coordinating labour, plant and materials.
  • Maintain accurate site diaries and engineering records.
  • Work closely with the wider site team to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on major civils/infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience in earthworks, associated civils and roadworks.
  • Confident with setting out, surveying and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience with Permit-to-Dig and CAT & Genny.
  • Good understanding of QA, ITPs, inspections and NCRs.
  • Experience with short-term planning and look-ahead programmes.
  • SMSTS and CAT & Genny training desirable/required.
  • Relevant engineering qualification such as HNC/HND or degree.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor engineers and work effectively with site teams and subcontractors.
