An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Technical Officer (PTO) to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team delivering key rail infrastructure projects across the Wales and Western route. This role is ideal for a skilled and motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality engineering solutions. As PTO, you will be at the forefront of Permanent Way (P-Way) delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead as Principal Technical Officer on multidisciplinary rail projects across the Wales and Western region
  • Provide specialist knowledge in hand back, stressing, and engineering close-out procedures
  • Oversee delivery of Switches & Crossings (S&C) and plain line track works
  • Monitor and manage on-site technical activities to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Uphold rigorous quality control across all stages of project delivery
  • Work closely with other technical disciplines for integrated and effective solutions

What We’re Looking For:

  • HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in the rail industry
  • In-depth understanding of Permanent Way construction principles
  • Proven experience in track stressing and handback processes
  • Valid and current Safety Management training
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant track standards, processes, and procedures
