About the Role

We are looking for an energetic and experienced Civil Water Engineer to join a talented, multi-disciplinary design team delivering complex and innovative projects across the UK water sector.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering major infrastructure programmes, working on technically challenging projects across the full project lifecycle.

You will apply your technical knowledge, experience and problem‑solving skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions, while working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and other disciplines.

About the Client

Our client is a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering major projects across the UK and internationally.

You will join an experienced multi-disciplinary team working on critical water infrastructure projects, with opportunities to contribute to innovative engineering solutions from initial design through to construction and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate or manage a team of Civil Water Engineers delivering technical design work on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Deliver designs in accordance with relevant national and project‑specific design codes and standards.
  • Provide technical input across areas including hydraulics, wastewater and clean water infrastructure, water reuse and pipelines.
  • Produce and review technical deliverables including design reports, drawings, calculations and scopes of work.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of project design requirements, working closely with project management teams to meet key milestones, budgets and programmes.
  • Collaborate with clients, operational teams, project teams and other engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
  • Work independently with minimal technical guidance, using professional judgement to resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Provide technical support for bids and proposals.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to develop integrated design solutions.
  • Ensure design quality through effective checking and review of your own work and that of others.
  • Support the continued development of Civil Water engineering capabilities within the wider team.

What Our Client is Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Preferably Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Proven experience coordinating or managing Civil Water engineering design teams within a consultancy environment.
  • Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary design environment.
  • Proven experience collaborating with contractors and delivering projects across the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in risk assessment, quality control and design management.
  • Experience collaborating with key disciplines involved in water infrastructure design and delivery, including MEICA, structures and geotechnics.
  • Practical knowledge of current design codes, standards and industry best practice.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, Eurocodes, regulatory requirements, water utility standards and NEC.
  • Experience working within the Water market is essential.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and highly motivated approach, with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to successful project delivery.

Eligibility

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be available to work on a contract basis inside IR35.
