Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Cost and Commercial team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering some of the East of Scotland’s most significant construction and infrastructure projects, working across a diverse portfolio that includes education, residential, infrastructure, and public sector developments. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and forward-thinking team, taking ownership of complex projects while contributing to the continued growth of an established regional practice.

The Role

  • Lead the commercial management of major projects from inception through to completion, ensuring robust cost control, effective risk management, and successful project delivery.
  • Deliver pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying services.
  • Prepare cost plans, estimates, budgets, and commercial reports.
  • Manage NEC, JCT, and SBCC contracts.
  • Monitor project costs, financial performance, and commercial risk.
  • Advise clients on procurement and commercial strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Lead commercial discussions and project reporting.
  • Mentor junior Quantity Surveyors and support team development.
  • Support business development activities and client engagement initiatives.
  • Promote best practice across multidisciplinary project teams.

About You

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong consultancy or client-side Quantity Surveying experience.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale construction, infrastructure, or public sector projects.
  • Sound knowledge of NEC and JCT/SBCC contracts.
  • Strong cost planning and commercial management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • MRICS status or progress towards chartership is highly desirable.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to lead projects and influence commercial outcomes.
