My client is one of the world’s leading providers of engineering, professional consulting, and project support services, with a strong presence across Ireland. They work at the forefront of major infrastructure developments, helping to shape the built environment through innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.

As a Utilities Design Engineer, you’ll be a key part of my client’s Irish infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership and coordination for utility design. You’ll work closely with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure efficient delivery, smooth integration with enabling works, and effective risk management. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a pivotal role in driving design quality and ensuring utilities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead utility design and coordination across major infrastructure projects.
  • Liaise with clients, utility providers, and key stakeholders to achieve approvals and ensure alignment.
  • Integrate utility designs with enabling and main works, ensuring constructability and programme delivery.
  • Oversee the design approval process in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with diversions and new installations.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Promote innovation and value engineering within utility design.
  • Report progress, risks, and technical challenges to project leadership.
About You
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartered status.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading utility design on medium to large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of Irish utility regulations, codes, and approval processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in enabling works or early-stage project planning is highly advantageous.
