Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in HV and LV systems, looking to take your next step in a dynamic and supportive commercial environment?
My client is a fast-growing, innovative business delivering value-added power engineering services to private network owners, embedded generation investors and carbon-reduction focused organisations. Their work spans the full project lifecycle – from design and estimation through to installation, commissioning, and maintenance – with a pipeline of major infrastructure and energy projects including microgrids, hydrogen/gas generation, and battery storage solutions.
The Role
They are looking for an enthusiastic Design & Bid Engineer to join their close-knit team in Blackburn. You’ll work across the full design, estimation and negotiation process for HV and LV construction projects ranging from £50k to £3M. A key part of the role involves converting sales enquiries into deliverable construction orders, so experience in a competitive contracting environment is highly desirable.

What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in HV and/or LV design and estimating in a competitive environment
- Qualified LV Power Systems Engineer
- HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of 11/6.6kV and 415V systems, including design of switchgear, transformers, underground circuits and protection to DNO and industry standards (desirable)
- Understanding of both HV and LV earthing systems (desirable)
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015
- Excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills
- Sound understanding of electrical installation and construction practices
- Commercial risk assessment and mitigation experience
- Experience engaging directly with customers
- Knowledge of DNO Codes of Practice, BS7671 and other industry standards
