Advance is an award‑winning and innovative women‑only organisation, established in 1998, providing emotional and practical support to women and girls survivors of domestic abuse and supporting women with short‑term sentences to reduce offending. About the role
The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for providing efficient, accurate, and compliant financial support to the charity. The role ensures robust financial controls, timely reporting, and effective stewardship of charitable funds in line with regulatory, donor, and internal requirements. The role will require someone who can work flexibly and independently, with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate must be comfortable using accounting software and be confident and able to adapt their skills to meet the requirements of an organisation in a period of rapid growth and change.
Your key responsibilities and duties include:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and nominal ledger
- Process invoices, payments, expenses, payroll and other relevant journals accurately and on time
- Perform regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Monitor cash flow and support treasury management
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year‑end financial statements
- Support budget preparation, monitoring, and forecasting
- Provide financial guidance and support to non‑finance staff as needed
About You
To be successful as the Senior Finance Officer you will be an AAT qualified or part‑qualified accountant with significant experience in a finance role preferably within a charity, public sector or not‑for‑profit environment.
